meeting with Dr JURAN

Richard worked for 36 years in engineering and quality before setting up RK:QM Ltd. in 2003.

He spent 16 years working in Quality Improvement and Quality Management in several of the operations and services of CarnaudMetalbox, at one stage leading the development of quality training material for the company’s World Class Manufacturing College. He was the joint author of the company’s SPC textbook. He was a regular presenter at the Juran conferences from 1988 to 1992, where according to Quality Review he “gained the enviable reputation for originality”.

In recent years he has written and presented training material covering most Quality subjects, for all levels of organisations from the shop floor to the boardroom of a multi-national.

His greatest interest is in the use of data for improvement projects and process understanding; that is, problem solving, gauge studies, risk analysis and Design of experiment. Participants at courses regularly comment upon his ability to simply explain the difficult concepts associated with Quality data tools. His courses are always fun, meticulously planned, and focussed upon the important learning points.

He has a great interest in language, number theory and culture. He is fluent in French and writes and presents training courses in that language.

He was a visiting lecturer in the Business School of Buckingham University up to 2008.

He is chairman of the Thames Valley Branch of the Chartered Quality Institute .

The company is situated just 10 kms south of Oxford.
